Meridel Le Sueur foi uma escritora norte-americana associada com o movimento proletário de 1930 a 1940. Nascida como Meridel Wharton, ela assumiu o nome do segundo marido de sua mãe, Arthur Le Sueur, o ex-prefeito socialista de Minot, Dakota do Norte.

Meridel Le Sueur foi uma poeta, escritora, ativista e feminista norte-americana, nascida em Murray, Iowa, a 22 de fevereiro de 1900. Fez parte do Movimento Proletário norte-americano dos anos 30 e 40, e muitos de seus textos são vistos como precursores do Movimento Feminista dos anos 60/70, como seu importante ensaio "Women on the Breadlines" (1932), sobre a situação das mulheres durante a Grande Depressão advinda da Crise da Bolsa de Valores de 1929. Publicou ainda os romances The Girl (1939) e North Star Country (1945). Em seu volume de poemas Rites of Ancient Ripening, Meridel Le Sueur escreveu sua mitopoética matriarcal. Foi uma precursora de poetas como Audre Lorde (1934 - 1992) e Adrienne Rich (1929 - 2012)
