Heaven has different Signs—to me
Emily Dickinson
Heaven has different Signsâto me
"Heaven" has different Signsâto meâ
Sometimes, I think that Noon
Is but a symbol of the Placeâ
And when again, at Dawn,
A mighty look runs round the World
And settles in the Hillsâ
An Awe if it should be like that
Upon the Ignorance stealsâ
The Orchard, when the Sun is onâ
The Triumph of the Birds
When they together Victory makeâ
Some Carnivals of Cloudsâ
The Rapture of a finished Dayâ
Returning to the Westâ
All theseâremind us of the place
That Men call "paradise"â
Itself be fairerâwe supposeâ
But how Ourself, shall be
Adorned, for a Superior Graceâ
Not yet, our eyes can seeâ
"Heaven" has different Signsâto meâ
Sometimes, I think that Noon
Is but a symbol of the Placeâ
And when again, at Dawn,
A mighty look runs round the World
And settles in the Hillsâ
An Awe if it should be like that
Upon the Ignorance stealsâ
The Orchard, when the Sun is onâ
The Triumph of the Birds
When they together Victory makeâ
Some Carnivals of Cloudsâ
The Rapture of a finished Dayâ
Returning to the Westâ
All theseâremind us of the place
That Men call "paradise"â
Itself be fairerâwe supposeâ
But how Ourself, shall be
Adorned, for a Superior Graceâ
Not yet, our eyes can seeâ
