What once were vices are manners now.

When I think over what I have said, I envy dumb people.
When we have provided against cold, hunger and thirst, all the rest is but vanity and excess.
Where fear is, happiness is not.
Where reason fails, time oft has worked a cure.
Where the speech is corrupted, the mind is also.
Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.
While the fates permit, live happily; life speeds on with hurried step, and with winged days the wheel of the headlong year is turned.
While we are postponing, life speeds by.
Who shrinks from knowledge of his calamities but aggravates his fear; troubles half seen do torture all the more.
