Max Ehrmann (1872-1945) was an American poet, writer, and lawyer. He graduated in 1894 from DePauw University and later studied law at Harvard University and Indiana University. Although he practiced law, he dedicated himself primarily to writing, exploring philosophical and spiritual themes. His most famous poem, "Desiderata", written in 1927, became a popular anthem of self-confidence and wisdom, even though it only gained fame after his death. Ehrmann also wrote prose and poetry on themes such as the search for truth and the meaning of life.
