Poems List
I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine.
I like to see it lap the Miles—
I like to see it lap the Miles— And lick the Valleys up—
I never saw a Moor— I never saw the Sea— Yet know I how the Heather looks And what a Billow be. I never spoke with God Nor visited in Heaven— Yet certain am I of the spot As if the Checks were given—
I never saw a Moor.
I never spoke with God
I reckon—when I count at all— First—Poets—Then the Sun— Then Summer—Then the Heaven of God— And then—the List is done— But, looking back—the First so seems To Comprehend the Whole— The Others look a needless Show— So I write—Poets—All—
I taste a liquor never brewed, From Tankards scooped in Pearl—
