Ángel Ganivet (1865-1898) was a Spanish writer, essayist, and diplomat, born in Granada. His work, though relatively short due to his premature death, had a significant influence on Spanish thought and literature during the transition to the 20th century. Trained in Law and Philosophy, Ganivet dedicated himself to writing and diplomacy, serving in Spanish consulates in Riga and Antwerp. His most famous essay, 'Idearium español', published posthumously, offers a deep analysis of Spain's identity and destiny. Other important works include 'Granada, la bella' and 'Por la España que transige'. Ganivet is remembered for his melancholic yet lucid vision of the Spanish condition and for his search for a path to national regeneration.
