Below the thunders of the upper deep;

 

Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea,

One God, one law, one element,

 

And one far-off divine event,

Ring out the thousand wars of old,

 

Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,

 

Ring, happy bells, across the snow:

There lives more faith in honest doubt,

 

Believe me, than in half the creeds.

So careful of the type she seems,

 

So careless of the single life.

So many worlds, so much to do,

 

So little done, such things to be.
