Com o espírito morto de sede,
Rojo-me num deserto escuro,
E voa um anjo de seis asas
Na encruzilhada dos meus rumos.
Com dedos leves como o sonho
O serafim toca-me os olhos:
Uns olhos profetas se abriram
Como os da águia assustada.
Eis que me assoma os ouvidos
E os enche de alvoroço:
Escuto o tremer do céu,o alto
Voo dos anjos,os deslizar
Subáqueo do monstro marinho
E a rosa a crescer no vale.
Sobre minha boca se inclina
E arranca a língua ardilosa,
Carpideira,iníqua e vã,
E com a dextra ensanguentada
Põe o dardo da sábia cobra
Na minha boca silenciada.
Com a espada me corta o peito,
O meu coração latejante
Despega,e no vão negro do seio
O anjo mete a brasa viva .
Estou,como morto,no deserto
E a voz de Deus por mim clama:
Ergue-te,ouve e vê,profeta,
Da minha vontade te tomes,
Mares e terras percorre,queime
Teu verbo o coração dos homens.
