Mary Shelley was a British novelist and writer, best known for her Gothic novel 'Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus'. She was also the author of other novels, including 'The Last Man' and 'Valperga'.
Born in London, Shelley was the daughter of the political philosopher William Godwin and the feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. She eloped with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, whom she later married. Her life was marked by tragedy, including the deaths of several children and her husband.
