História e Origens

O Prêmio Jabuti, instituído em 1959 pela Câmara Brasileira do Livro (CBL), é o mais antigo e um dos mais importantes prêmios literários do Brasil. Seu nome é uma homenagem ao escritor Monteiro Lobato, que utilizava o pseudônimo "Juca Pirama", e o jabuti, animal símbolo da lentidão e da sabedoria, foi escolhido para representar a longevidade e a importância da literatura.

Evolução das Categorias

Ao longo de sua história, o prêmio passou por diversas reformulações em suas categorias e critérios de avaliação, buscando sempre se adaptar às transformações do mercado editorial e da produção literária brasileira.

Inicialmente, o prêmio focava em categorias mais restritas, como Romance, Conto, Poesia e Biografia.
