More or less, what causes desperation/depression/hopelessness is nothing but lack of motivation/inspiration i.e. anyone who is not always inspired/motivated is likely to be despaired/desperate/hopeless in life. But on the other hand, anyone who is often inspired/motivated will hardly feel depressed/despaired/hopeless in life. Therefore, do source/search/go for inspirations/motivations as often as you can.
