Nicolae Iorga was a Romanian historian, writer, and politician. He is considered one of the most influential Romanian historians of the 20th century, known for his extensive work on Romanian history and the history of Eastern Europe. In addition to his academic career, Iorga played an active role in Romania's political life, serving as Prime Minister.

Bio
Born in Botoșani, Iorga dedicated his life to the study and dissemination of Romanian history. He founded the Institute of Universal History and the Historical Memorial of Vălenii de Munte, which became important centers for historical research. His work spanned from antiquity to modern times, with a particular focus on the Middle Ages. He was a prolific writer, author of hundreds of books and thousands of articles. His political vision was nationalist and conservative, and his views had a significant impact on Romanian public debate. Iorga was assassinated in 1940 by members of the Iron Guard, a far-right group, due to his opposing political positions.
