Luis Felipe Angell

Luis Felipe Angell, known worldwide by the pseudonym 'Hugo' and also by 'El Loco', was born in Paita, Peru, on April 14, 1926. He was a renowned writer, journalist, and caricaturist, widely recognized as one of the pillars of Peruvian costumbrista journalism and graphic humor. His career was marked by the creation of memorable characters and his ability to capture the essence of daily life and the social peculiarities of Peru with a critical yet affectionate eye. Angell collaborated with various newspapers and magazines, where he published his chronicles, articles, and especially his caricatures and comic strips that frequently addressed political and social themes with wit and irony.
