Bio
George Augustus Moore was born in Moore Hall, County Mayo, Ireland, in 1852. Initially, Moore traveled to Paris with the intention of becoming a painter, but he soon turned to writing. His early novels, such as "A Modern Lover" (1882), caused controversy due to their realism and exploration of sexuality. Later, Moore focused on portraying Irish life and culture. His most celebrated work, "The Untilled Field" (1903), is a collection of short stories that address the alienation and difficulties of rural life in Ireland, as well as social and religious tensions. Another important work is "Hail and Farewell" (1911-1914), an autobiography in fictional form that offers a vivid portrait of Irish literary and political figures. Moore passed away in London in 1933.
