Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German theologian, pastor, and anti-Nazi activist. He became a prominent figure in the Confessing Church, a resistance movement against Nazi influence on the German Protestant church. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born in Wrocław and studied theology, earning his doctorate in 1927. He became a pastor and professor, and during the Nazi regime, he became actively involved in the resistance. He was one of the founders of the Confessing Church, which opposed the antisemitic policies and the appropriation of the state church by Nazism. Bonhoeffer was arrested by the Gestapo in 1943 for his involvement in resistance activities, including helping Jews flee Germany. He was executed shortly before the end of World War II, in 1945. His writings, such as 'The Cost of Discipleship' and 'Letters from Prison,' continue to inspire Christians worldwide.
